Support multiple folders in a single project

From AnonymousDone 1 week ago

Allow an AgentsRoom project to include multiple existing folders without moving them.

My use case is an Unreal Engine game in folder A and a copy using a newer Unreal Engine version in folder B. Both belong to the same project, and agents should be able to work across them.

Moving both into a common parent folder would disrupt my existing version-control setup and paths just to accommodate AgentsRoom.

Please let users add or remove folders from a project, select an agent’s working folder, and retain each folder’s existing repository and version-control configuration.

AgentsRoom diagnostics

  • App version: 1.210.0
  • OS: win32 10.0.26200 (x64)

Thanks for the detailed use case! A project can now include other existing folders without moving them.

How to use it: open Project settings > General > Linked folders, click "Add a folder" and pick your second folder (for example your Unreal project on the newer engine). You can add or remove folders at any time, nothing is moved or changed on disk.

What happens then:

  • Agents still start in the project's main folder, and they also get access to every linked folder, which they find listed in their brief.
  • Each folder keeps its own repository and version control. In the Changes tab, a picker lets you choose which repository to review and commit.
  • Automatic commits and the per-ticket worktree stay on the main folder.

We chose not to add a "working folder" choice per agent for now: giving each agent access to both folders covers your case without making worktrees and change tracking ambiguous.

If the feature is not quite what you had in mind, tell us and we will adjust it.

Thanks: your idea is implemented and ships in the next release. We built it the way we pictured it, so if the result is not what you had in mind, tell us and we will adjust it.
