Improve agent workflows

From antonDone 1 week ago

User reports two main limitations impacting autonomous multi-agent workflows in AgentsRoom:

  1. Ticket descriptions accumulate agent progress checkpoints until hitting a 200 KB limit, after which new updates are rejected. This scatters tracking across description, comments, and messages. User requests either separating the ticket description from the activity log or automatically appending new updates as comments once the description limit is reached.

  2. Agent conversations automatically stop after 12 messages, requiring manual "Extend" clicks to continue. This interrupts autonomous workflows, especially when agents need to communicate results without human intervention. User suggests a configurable message budget with warnings before limits are reached.

No current settings or workflows address these issues. Implementing these improvements would support longer, more autonomous development and review cycles.

Hi Anton, thanks for the detailed write-up. Both points are now addressed.

  1. Ticket descriptions no longer fill up. The description stays the ticket's spec. Agent activity goes to the ticket's Comments section, which now works as its activity log: the checkpoints agents save during their conversations land there directly. If a description still reaches its size limit, any further update an agent adds is filed in the Comments instead of being rejected, and the rest of the update (a status change after a review, for example) still goes through. These comments carry a small label so you can tell them apart, and the latest ones are given to the next agent started on the ticket.

  2. The conversation limit is now a setting: Settings > AI providers & accounts > "Messages per conversation", from 12 (the default) up to 100. From halfway through, agents are told how many messages they have left. They still have to save a checkpoint near the end (at 80% of the limit), and "Extend" still reopens a single conversation. There is always a limit, so two agents can never loop forever, and agents cannot raise it themselves.

This will be available in the next update. If it doesn't work the way you had in mind, let us know and we'll adjust.
