Chrome control: one test run opens 5+ Chrome windows and none are closed when it ends

When an agent tests a web app through AgentsRoom in Chrome (my own Chrome, driven by the extension), one test run sometimes opens 5 or more new Chrome windows. When the test finishes, none of them are closed, so they pile up and I close them by hand.

Two things make it worse:

  • It is intermittent: sometimes 5 windows, sometimes more, for a single test.
  • Agents can't clean up after themselves: the chrome_* tool set has no tool to close a tab or window.

Expected behavior

One tab per agent in the AgentsRoom tab group, reused across calls, and that tab closed or released when the test or agent session ends.

Actual behavior

Several new windows per test run, never closed afterwards.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect Chrome through the extension (macOS, set as the default browser). 2) Ask an agent to test a page in Chrome. 3) Watch Chrome during the run: several windows open. 4) After the test completes, all of them stay open.

We found that reconnecting could repeatedly create replacement tabs, and closing an agent did not clean up its Chrome tab. A fix is prepared for the next desktop and Chrome-extension updates: it preserves tab reuse, limits automatic replacements, and lets agents close their test tab or leave the result open. Closing an agent will also clean up its tab. Your personal tabs are preserved.

Your exact window-opening sequence has not yet been reproduced, so if the issue persists after installing those updates, please reopen this ticket with as much detail as possible. A screenshot or video helps a lot.
