Let an agent restart its own console fresh with a first prompt (for handoff/clear workflows)
From bensDone 2 weeks ago
A session-handoff workflow saves a checkpoint when context reaches a threshold. The session then needs /clear followed by a typed resume to continue in a fresh context. Outside AgentsRoom this is automated by sending keystrokes to a tmux pane. Inside AgentsRoom there is no supported way for an agent to do this for its own console. Messages to itself only arrive as notices, agents_close refuses to close the caller's own console, and agents_resume brings back the old conversation instead of a fresh one. As a result, the handoff saves, but a human has to type /clear and resume every time.

- OS: darwin 27.0.0 (arm64)
- Agent CLI: claude
- App language: system
Problem to solve
An agent can't start a fresh session of its own console with a first prompt, so automatic handoff/clear loops stop and wait for a human.
Proposed behavior
An MCP tool or hook-callable endpoint such as agents_restart({fresh: true, prompt}) for the caller's own console. It would follow the same consent and rate limits as agents_spawn.
Who benefits
Long-running agents that use context checkpoint/handoff tooling.
Acceptance criteria
The agent saves a handoff, restarts clean, and continues from its first prompt without anyone typing.
