Hi Rob, thanks for the detailed use case. Both parts are built and ship in the next update: the desktop app first, then the mobile app once it clears App Store review.
- Choose which agents reach your phone
Each agent now has a phone notification level:
- All notifications: every finished turn, question and message (what you get today).
- Only when it needs you: only when the agent waits for your answer, or messages you on purpose (see 2).
- Off: nothing from that agent reaches your phone, and it also leaves the iPhone Live Activity.
You can set it at three levels, and the narrowest one wins:
- Your whole account: Settings > Mobile > Agent notifications on the phone.
- One project: Project settings > Agents > Agent notifications on the phone.
- One agent: right-click it > Phone notifications. On the phone: long-press the agent > Phone notifications.
For your setup: set the coding project to Off, then right-click your Chief of Staff > Phone notifications > All notifications. Throwaway agents (backlog tickets, team steps, quick agents) follow the project, so the rest of the pipeline stays quiet. If the Chief of Staff itself is driven by the cron and pings you on every pass, set it to Only when it needs you instead. You can also untick "Notify when it starts" on the scheduled trigger to drop the push sent at the start of each run.
- Let the cron agent send you a specific notification
Agents get a new AgentsRoom MCP tool, notify_user. When an agent hits something only you can unblock, it calls the tool with a short message (up to 300 characters). You get a push titled with the agent and the project, plus a desktop notification. These messages still arrive when the agent is on Only when it needs you. So with that setting, the pushes for finished turns stop and the real requests still reach you.
Agents are already told about the tool, but you can make it explicit in the scheduled task prompt, for example: "If a ticket needs my decision, call notify_user with one short message saying which ticket and what you need."
Limits: one message per agent per minute. An agent set to Off only shows the message on the desktop. The desktop app has to be running, since it is what sends the pushes.
The levels are saved to your account, so your other computers pick them up too.
